Venice House - Dolac street, Rijeka

Robert Whitehead's palace is named the “Venice House” because of architectural associations to the Venetian Gothics. It was built in 1888. The palace is located on Dolac Street and its architectural design comprises elements of the High Renaissance and the Viennese Baroque. In the end of the 19th century, Giacomo Zammattio designed the house introducing cosmopolitism following Whitehead's wish to turn Rijeka into a cosmopolitan centre.
