Rijeka National Theatre

Categories: Architecture, City of Rijeka, Interiors

Vienna architects Helmer and Fellner are attributed with creating some of the most beautiful theatre buildings in Austro-Hungary at the end of the 19th century. One of those buildings is Croatian National Theatre “Ivan Zajc” in Rijeka, located in the very heart of the city, next to the public market and close to the sea. This monumental building’s authentic interior is enriched with the works of painter Gustav Klimt and sculptor August Benvenutti, while the exterior stands out with a dream-like park and a fountain placed right next to one of the city’s main roads, making this location very attractive.
